شكلت جمعية الجغرافيا الوطنية (ناشيونال جيوغرافيك سوسيتي) هيئة استشارية للمخطوطة مكونة من تسعة أشخاص وذلك من أجل مراجعة المخطوطة والتعليق عليه وتقديم المشورة للجمعية وذلك نظراً لقيمة المخطوطة وأهميتها بالنسبة للعلماء. وقد قام هؤلاء العلماء الأعضاء وهم من طليعة العلماء في هذه المجالات وفي المجالات الدينية بتقييم المخطوطة متضمنة المحتوي الثقافي والحضاري والاجتماعي الذي كتبت فيه هذه النصوص بالإضافة إلى الأعمال التي تتضمنها، وأهميتها للعلماء المعاصرين، والأثر المتوقع على المسيحية الحديثة وقيمتها بالنسبة للعلاقات اليهودية المسيحية. وأعضاء الهيئة متخصصون في الدراسات القبطيةوالدراسات الغنوصية وتاريخ الكنيسة القديم والدراسات الدينية. كما يوجد بينهم متخصصوت في دراسات اللاهوت يمثلون باقة من الديانات والتوجهات المتنوعة بدءاً من الأرثوذوكس وانتهاء بالتقدميين.
Bart Ehrman بارت أهرمان هو البروفيسور الشهير بجيمس جراي وأستاذ كرسي قسم الدراسات الدينية بجامعة نورث كارولينا، تشابيل هيل. وهو مشهور بمؤلفاته العديدة حول مظاهر وجوانب المسيحية المبكرة.
Stephen Emmel ستيفن إيميل أستاذ الدراسات القبطية بجامعة منستر بألمانيا. في عام 1983 تفرد بأنه كان هو أول العلماء الذين تمكنوا من مشاهدة إنجيل يهوذاعندما أرسلته جامعة سوثرن ميثوديست إلى جنيف بسويسرا للتحقق من المخطوطة من أجل توثيقها وإمكانية شرائها.
Craig A. Evans كريج إيفانس القسيس البروفيسور المتخصص في إنجيل العهد الجديد بكلية أكاديا لللاهوت وولف فيل نوفاسكوشيا. وهو مؤلف أو محرر لأكثر من خمسين كتاباً عن العهد الجديد وخلفياته اليهودية.
François Gaudard فرانسوا جودارد متخصص في الدراسات المصريةوباحث مشارك فيالقاموس الديموطي (Demotic Dictionary) , Egyptologist and research associate for the Demotic Dictionary and the Epigraphic Survey at the Oriental Institute of the University of Chicago, is a scholar specializing in the various stages of evolution of the ancient Egyptian language, in particular Coptic and Demotic. He assisted Coptic expert Rodolphe Kasser in the translation of the codex.
Amy-Jill Levine إيمي جيل ليفين is E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Professor of New Testament Studies at Vanderbilt University Divinity School and Graduate Department of Religion and Director of the Carpenter Program in Religion, Gender, and Sexuality. She is widely published on Christian origins and Formative Judaism.
Marvin Meyer مارفن ماير is Griset Professor of Bible and Christian Studies and director of the Albert Schweitzer Institute at Chapman University, Orange, California. He is one of the foremost scholars on Gnosticism, the Nag 'Hammadi library, and texts about Jesus outside the New Testament. He is one of the translators of the codex.
Elaine Pagels إلين باجلز is the Harrington Spear Paine Professor of Religion at Princeton University. Author of numerous articles and books, she is one of the world's most widely known authorities on the Gnostic gospels.
Rev. Donald Senior, C.P. الأب دونالد سينيور, is president of the Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, where he is also professor of New Testament studies. He is a past president of the Catholic Biblical Association of America and was appointed in 2003 by Pope John Paul ll to the Pontifical Biblical Commission.
Gregor Wurst جريجور ورست is a professor of ecclesiastical history and patristics at the Faculty of Catholic Theology of University of Augsburg, Germany. He is widely published in the field of Coptic and Manichaean Studies. Collaborating with Rodolphe Kasser, he is one of the two editors of the original Coptic of the Gospel of Judas and one of the translators of the text.
